The 2012 Indianapolis Toy Solder Show was held on March 25th at a new location for the show: The Indianapolis Marriott East. The new location got as many rave reviews at the show itself (and both got a lot!). The Marriott is convenient to get to, close to many restaurants and a very nice facility. All of the rooms for show attendees were on the first floor, so no need to haul things up and down the elevator! They were also in close proximity to the ballroom for easy load in on Saturday nite. As an extra bonus, many of the rooms had sliding glass doors opening to the parking lot, so unloading and loading your car was a breeze. The 61 dealers at this year's show was up from 46 in 2011.
As usual, there was a good mix of items for sale including: New production metal from such makers as King & Country, Thomas Gunn, Britains, Collectors Showcase, Figarti, Conte, etc. Also, new production plastic including TSSD, Barzso, Paragon, etc. and of course vintage metal (glossy & matte), Marx playsets and figures, Elastolin, Gibbs, and others, books, supplies, dioramas, uniforms.. Lots to see and choose from!
One highlight of the show was Barzso's preview of his new Battle of Lexington/Corcord figures - 8 British Grenadiers and 8 Minutemen all in injection molded plastic.
But rather than me going on about the show - we'll let some of the attendees tell you about it here.
Regards,
Barry Carter
